must time always be measured by distance?

a minute: the precise length of space between two dots on a dial

if I move farther, and then farther still,
always pushing the dot ahead of me,
does time stream out and expand behind my feet?

to end up at some number too high to have been mentioned
by the ancient Babylonians with their strict 360.
