Saddam Hussein Captured Alive Near Tikrit (AP)
AP – American forces captured a bearded Saddam Hussein as he hid in a dirt hole under a farmhouse near his hometown of Tikrit, ending one of the most intensive manhunts in history. The arrest, eight months after the fall of Baghdad, was carried out without a shot fired and was a huge victory for U.S. forces.
Rather makes me wonder how different the world would be if the US had gone after Hitler in the same way, before he became entrenched. But, as C. S. Lewis had Aslan say in the Narnia stories, “You are never told what might have been.”
Anyway, I hope they’re not too gentle with that rubber glove…
