Ruben found me through this blog, and I called him today and talked to him for the first time in about 15 years. He used to be my Technical Director at the small computer company I had for a couple of years before it tanked.
“Technical Director” meant that, for anything that ran on electricity and was more complex than a refrigerator, he was responsible. He used a lot of Fortran to deal with stuff, and DCL (scripting language for VMS, which is an operating system I’ll miss for the rest of my days).
I miss him too, and all but one of the other people I worked with then. That other person would, of course, be the paranoid schizophrenic I’d hired to be my VP. Never hire a paranoid schizophrenic, especially if they have a rifle, a shotgun, and ammo for both.
But that’s another story.
In other news, we explored today how much energy it takes to get from Lookout Joe’s to Zip’s Café across the square and back.
