The Creationist wackos are at it again, trying to get their own “theory” validated in the schoolrooms. This gets my back up, to coin a phrase, though you’d never know it from this blog. I should talk to y’all more about how I feel about these willfully and intentionally uninformed “scientists” — the Creationists. P.Z. Myers, over at Pharyngula, thorougly and clearly destroys not only Michael Behe’s op-ed in the NYT yesterday, but the Creationists’ argument in general.
Pharyngula::Behe jumps the shark
Intelligent Design creationism is not a “rival theory.” It is an ad hoc pile of mush, and once again we catch a creationist using the term “theory” as if it means “wild-ass guess.” I think a theory is an idea that integrates and explains a large body of observation, and is well supported by the evidence, not a random idea about untestable mechanisms which have not been seen.
And, to sum up about the Creationists’ arguments in favor of “Intelligent Design:”
Pharyngula::Behe jumps the shark
The evidence for Intelligent Design.1. It’s obvious.
2. It’s obvious!
3. Evolutionary explanations are no good.
4. There aren’t any good evolutionary explanations.That’s it.
That’s pathetic.
Y’all just have to go over there and read the whole thing!
