Definitely not OK

It always astounds me: the number of people who have a need, beyond all proper reason, to stick to a primitive myth in the face of the modern age. Got an essay percolating in my mind about this…

Pharyngula::Oklahoma is not OK
Following a vote by the Tulsa, Okla. Parks Board yesterday, the Tulsa Zoo will install an exhibit chronicling the biblical account of creation. Red State Rabble is trying to get additional information on this story—it may be that other creation accounts will go up, as well.

  1. I lived in Tulsa for about 12 years, and this does not surprise me one bit.

    Surely you’ve read about the creationist museum just across the river from us in northern KY? It’s amazing how people fear science & evolution.

  2. You’re right, Steve — I’d completely forgotten about that. Maybe my mind was blanking it out on purpose. Maybe my mind was too full with remembering the look of horror on Sister Michaela’s face in 1st grade when I told the lunch table that we’d all descended from gorillas.

    Furthermore, I think these people shall never be convinced, even if we were to find something that they would define as a “missing link.”
