a lesson in here somewhere

Beethoven was so deaf when he wrote his 9th symphony that, at the end of the first performance, one of the sopranos had to leave her spot on stage and go to where Beethoven stood and physically turn the man around to face the audience, so he could see their standing ovation and wild applause.

Isaac Newton, who was able to give the first real, scientific, and true explanation of how the tides worked, never (probably) saw the ocean in his life.

What is this telling me?

  1. Um, never underestimate the value of a ambulatory soprano, and the ocean isn’t all it’s cracked up to be?

    ‘Course, that’s just a wild guess. 😉
