Morning. Boulder. Impossible temperatures.

Bright and clear and -4° Fahrenheit. Snow on the ground from yesterday, not too thick. But then, we’re not in the mountains at a ski resort, so we are not hoping for great thicknesses of snow.

There are no thickets or forests on the open prairie, by definition, so there is nowhere to hide from the wind and weather. If you try to hide from the great empty spaces, there is nowhere to go to do so but more great empty spaces. You can’t use the open to hide from the open.
