top of the slope

The tops of the Front Range are hidden in the snow clouds. The rain has started out as snow — perfectly disappointing. Or I could say that the snow has started out like rain. Either way, this is the perfect definition day of the start of hibernation.

Whether I mean hibernation for bears or for humans, I don’t know. Or for trees. But this is the downswing in the great heartbeat of the year’s rhythm.

Sliding down into the trough of a new year. Yes, it’s far away: we’re at the top of the slope! We’ve tipped over the top, and are starting to gain a bit of momentum here in our plunge. Just like a roller coaster.

Did I ever tell you I hate roller coasters?

Can’t get off of this one, though.
