  1. What I got was/is a Nikon D40. My son, Peter, said that I should have gotten a D200, but that’s way too many knobs and buttons even for a geek like me. This thing actually seems to live up to its hype.

  2. Sweet. I’m a Canon guy myself, primarily because (1) we had legacy lenses and (b) the camera was a gift.

    The neat thing about having a digital SLR is that you can try out all those knobs and buttons without incurring any expense other than the time it takes to view the photos. But I have to confess that 95% of my shots are still taken in the good ol’ simpleton “P” mode.

  3. Not too scary. We’re at the top of the street and only have a small hill to overcome. Also, since it’s a private street, our snow-cleaner truck usually comes before the public streets get plowed.
