Almost a year

It’s less than a month away from my first anniversary as a cancer survivor. I remember wondering at what point I could call myself a survivor; the answer was, right away, but I still held off calling myself that until after my surgery.

Today, I come full circle, and start finding a way I’m going to work towards spreading cancer awareness. How? More on that later, as it develops.

I do not count rainy weather as an auspicious start to anything not farming-related, but I will take what comes. It beats the alternative, after all.

  1. I felt somewhat the same way when just more than two years ago I received a diagnosis of a very rare cancer, Merkel Cell Cancer. Raising cancer awareness is a great idea. I was not able to find a single survivor of merkel cell cancer and decided the first week after my surgery to start a group to locate others. In two years I have found more than 160 world-wide. Also, put together a section of hard to locate (then it was difficult) information for other’s just diagnosed with this disease.

I wish you all the lucky in the world in your endeavors, and BTW, you were a survivor from day one.
