So I have gotten over my sulk about the country’s midterm election results by comforting myself that most of the craziest did not get elected. I will keep a stern watch on Rand Paul, I tell myself, and start blogging as soon as he starts frothing at the mouth or something. That should not take long, so I am fortifying myself with a peppermint mocha at Starbuck’s.
Another thing helping me out of my sulk is to immerse myself in the Rome of two thousand years ago. Robert Graves’ excellent I, Claudius arrived in the mail from Amazon.com two days ago. I can spend my time kvetching about people already dead.
And it’s a real honest paper book, as well. I, Claudius is not available in electronic format yet, and I find myself oddly cheered by that. A stack of paper feels good in the hand.
