Something – a question – just occurred to me while watching a cheesy episode of a cheesy show – Mutant X. In this episode, prophecies are made. What my question is: Why are all these silly prophecies made in bad rhymes?

My father brought me up to revere General William Tecumseh Sherman, among others. In particular, he had me read the following letter that Sherman wrote to the mayor and city council of Atlanta, answering their request that he please not burn their city down. Did you know that it took Ezra Pound two years to write this poem that I’ve copied below? The time was spent removing words and phrases, not adding. That can take a long time. I’m just chock full o’ knowledge tidbits like this.
