Why the Jews?

Just finished Why the Jews this afternoon — it’s one of the books that Mordechai has assigned me to read for my conversion lessons. He wants me to be prepared, I believe, to be a target. I’m not becoming a Jew to become a target; I’m becoming a Jew to be a Jew. However, the “target” part seems to be inevitable.

The purpose of this book is to point out the specifics of antisemitism — history, causes (both real and supposed-but-false). It’s frightening to think that there are whole nations of idiots out there ready to hate people for reasons that don’t affect them (the idiot haters) at all, but I should know by now that people are not very logical.

Another thing that I know by now is that idiots always side with the bad people. Thus, the existence of antisemitism is, for me, an odd kind of proof that Judaism is the right path.
