shopping

The first thng that comes to mind to write about first thing in the morning in mid-town Manhattan is shopping. This is encouraged by the fact that it is the main story on all local news channels, and was last night before I went to sleep. Macy’s was to open up at six this morning. Bloomingdale’s, that slugabed of stores, waited until nine to open.

To which end, it seems rather unpatriotic, not to mention unfasionable, to do anything else this morning besides shop. I hope they’ll allow me to eat breakfast first.
