Newtonian physics in real life, good books, and a cat.

In reading The Golden Compass, I’m remembering why so many so-called “adult” books bore me: very little happens in them, and even when it does, it’s hard to care about the characters it happens to. In this book, much happens, and I care about all the people, some of whom I don’t even like.

I am immobilized here for a while, in the big armchair in the television room, since Eddie the Cat has decided to settle on my legs for a nap. I don’t dare disturb him — since his chemotherapy dose, he’s been quite drowsy, though he still shows signs of his old self.

A lazy day of reading, and of realizing that I am 47 and can no longer drink wine like I could when I was younger. Like Newton said, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
