The Batlló House

Overwhelmed with the sensory input of a new country – spent the day yesterday quietly. That reason, and the reason of having sangria the night before. Who knew that they made it from champagne too? Certainly not me.

The Batlló House. Yes, I spelled it right. It’s a Catalan name. Anyway, the house was refurbished inside and out by Antoni Gaudi, and finished in 1900. Few if any straight lines – forms writhing and curling and undulating. Gaudi even designed the spikes on the fence.

  1. I visited Barcelona once, about 6 years ago. We first went to France and drove along the south of France, stopping at Aix-en-Provence and Carcassonne before heading to Barcelona. We were supposed to spend a few days there, but my husband was called home due to business, so we only spent a day, which was a terrible tease. Have vowed to get back to Spain one of these days. So much great history there, and things of interest to explore.
