How do you celebrate the 4th on a rainy, thunderstorming day? I’m not sure, but it’s bound to be too wet for the fireworks I’m sure that my son has hidden away from his uncle’s various visits. Unless he set them all off last year, that is. I hope his small car wreck on Friday has made him more cautious in general, even if only for a short while.
How do you parent an eighteen-year-old? He’s technically an adult. He’s theoretically able to leave suddenly, and start his own life without my input or advice or rules or my general, all-purpose Mommy’s “NO!” He’s as practical and level-headed as you can expect of a young man of 18, but is that enough? Is anything ever enough? How do you protect someone when you don’t know where the danger is coming from?
