Working on a website for a friend today. Someone wants to put a piece of background music on it, which I hate. How to put this to them nicely?
Websites with background music make me leave the site as soon as I humanly can. They are a terrible annoyance to all within earshot of the user, even if the user, by some outside chance, doesn’t mind it.
Owners of sites with background music are unfamiliar with creating websites, the user experience, and/or the web in general, so they cover this up by throwing on all the bells and whistles possible so you don’t notice their lack of experience. Which simply goes to show up their lack of experience.
And I won’t put music on the site. End of story.
