This is Beeper R. Kat:

She is in her favorite nap-place: the stack of empty grocery bags in the pantry. She’s been sleeping a lot lately, and this is why… We’ve had to have our old leaded-glass windows on the first floor redone gradually this year, due to rust etc. Currently, the windows in the pantry and kitchen and breakfast room are out being fixed, and have Lovely Plywood Replacements. It’s thus very, very dark in the pantry, so Beeper thinks it’s night. All the time. So she sleeps a lot. It doesn’t seem odd to her that if she walks down the hallway, it’s daytime all of a sudden. She’s a cat. She doesn’t think much about these things.
This is an aerial shot of Lucy at her favorite activity:

She is eating from the cats’ Genuine Reproduction Hemingway Cat Bowl, which you can get at the gift shop at the Hemingway House in Key West. All the Hemingway cats eat from such bowls (many such, there being fifty or sixty of the critters in residence at any given time), so you usually see several around the house’s porches.
The cats, of course, are very proud of this bowl.
This is Newton (Fig, brother of Isaac):

He’s got lots of cavities, and has already had several teeth extractions. He doesn’t complain much, though.
