  1. Well, sort of… The book it first appeared in was “The Berlin Stories” by Christoper Isherwood. The play (originally called “I am a Camera”) was adapted by John van Druten. He got the character of Sally Bowles from Isherwood. The play eventually became a musical known as Cabaret.
