Today, I am on my way for a first visit to Gold’s Gym, but not yet. First, I finish the Science Channel’s show on the Burgess Shale. This bit of rock in Canada has some of the oldest known fossils in the world.
Almost none of these look recognizable as an ancestor of anything living today. We humans/mammals are represented by something that looks rather like a tadpole, but has a sort of spinal cord. The fact that we somehow survived and developed to become us is almost unbelievable.
This is Hallucigenia, which is not our ancestor, but which gives you a scary idea of how strange things were back then:

With that in mind, I will face the task of exercising at Gold’s Gym, and losing a bit of weight.
