Sam Malone, part trois

Sam Malone, professional boxer before becoming a politician, was — ten years before being charged with beating up his son — convicted of assault for domestic abuse: specifically strangling his mother.

She, however, begged the court to let him go to rehab, which they did.

Now, on the “minor” charge of domestic abuse — specifically, beating up his son so badly the boy had to call 911 and go to the hospital — Sam Malone is alleging that beating up his son is “a cultural thing.” I guess that means that every parent in his neighborhood beats up their children on a regular basis. What else am I supposed to assume? Please, someone tell me.

I swear I can’t make this stuff up.
