CINCINNATI — Fears of a “catastrophic” explosion have subsided, but there’s no end in sight to the emergency created by a leaking tanker car near Lunken Airport, News 5 reported.
It looks as though they’re shortening the danger radius, so I feel better about leaving the hotel today, and seeing what hath become of the Loyal Dog and the Faithful Cats.
Westlake Styrene: that’s the culprit who owns the tanker and the styrene that is leaking all over our neighborhoods. It is Westlake Styrene that has caused all the damage and disrupted so many people’s lives.
The mayor, Charlie Luken, mentioned yesterday a concept called “rolling storage,” which the company might be involved in. What I assume it means: they take their undesirable/unsellable/waste products, like this styrene they couldn’t sell to anyone I guess, and simply put it on a rail car and send it on an endless journey, which is cheaper than disposing of it properly, since it is probably classified as hazmat.
