Four days after the Oscars, the general opinion that I’ve come across is that, to quote one critic I read (but whom I can’t remember), Crash is the single worst Best Picture Oscar since The Greatest Show On Earth won in 1952. There is a whole host of people falling over themselves to explain to the world at large that, despite the story shown in the picture, Los Angeles is not a hotbed of racial warfare.
I personally haven’t seen violence of any kind during this trip. Or any of my other trips to this city. And I’m even staying on Sunset Strip. However, I am seeing, if I can get a ticket, Russell Crowe sing at the House of Blues tonight, so you never know.
