Hudna, and why there will be more war

Why there’s going to be further war:

From Hugh Hewitt
A hudna is a strategic ceasefire that allows time for Islamic forces to regroup before re-launching their military offensive. The first Muslim leader to execute a hudna and define the paradigm was the prophet Mohammed. If you want to know more about the first hudna, read this informative Daniel Pipes’ essay from 1999 which also talks about Yasser Arafat’s use of hudnas.

A key aspect of the hudna is that it allows Muslim forces to deceitfully pretend to embrace peace but only as a sham; they can use the “peace” as nothing but a break to make preparations for waging a more effective war. One thing about the current hudna between Israel and its foes stands out – so convinced are Israel’s antagonists of the free worlds’ moral flabbiness, they don’t even see the need to pretend that they’ve signed on to a lasting peace.

Sigh — Why does nobody feel the need to force the Arabs to be peaceful? And why do I keep asking rhetorical questions?

  1. How stupid to think that a culture that actually has a term for this institutional form of deceit won’t use it to its advantage at every turn.

I assume you’ve read the blogger conference call transcript with Benjamin Netanyahu over at Atlas Shrugs. Netanyahu is, I believe, accurate in his assessment that we’ve just witnessed the first salvo in the Shiite quest for world domination.

And the forces of “political correctness” are hamstringing the one country who stands a snowball’s chance in hell of doing something about it…
