The final round

Had the last of the tests (I think) yesterday before I see my surgeon on Monday. These tests were to see what the chemo and radiation did to the tumor, if anything.

This was a PET scan and quite easy to do, on my part. First, they inject me with radioactive sugar. Then I read silly magazines and have a nap for an hour. Only then, did I get to lie quietly on a table and zone out and nap for 40 more minutes while they ran me slowly through a doughnut-shaped machine to take pictures of my innards.

If it consists largely of napping, I can take any number of tests. Unfortunately, I had to starve myself for four hours first. Still, what a tough life I lead, eh?

Today would be boring except that I get to go out for lunch. Yay me!

  3. Patti: I just recently started reading here and I feel for you having to go through Chemo. I have a nephew who who at a young age went through that I went with him to one of his treatments.
I read recently that scientist have developed a nanotechnology device that when a tumor is detected can be inserted into the tumor and heated using a laser destroying the tumor and leaving the surrounding area relatively unharmed.Heres is part of the story:
“The first in a new generation of nanotechnology-based cancer treatments will likely begin clinical trials in 2007, and if the promise of animal trials carries through to human trials, these treatments will transform cancer therapy.”
    Heres the link:

Heres another article that uses nano particles to identify tumors and as delivery system:http://www.technologyreview.com/Nanotech/18066/

I realize these arent of much help to you now but if your in a support group you might spread the word on these.
My best wishes for your health go to you and my prayers.

  4. Thanks for the information, Mike. I’ll spread it around where I can.

And big hugs for Ruben and B, as always 😀

  5. PET scans are cool, relatively speaking, except for the part about being strapped down and being warned not to move anything which, of course, only makes you want to move everything.

I’m going offline for a few days, returning just in time to hear what we know will be a good report from the tests.

    Still praying for you…
