So far, the rabbi has given me these books to read:
Why the Jews? and
9 Questions People Ask About Judaism
(the above by Joseph Telushkin and Dennis Prager)
God, Man, and History, and
Faith after the Holocaust, by Eliezer Berkovits, and
1st, 2nd and 3rd Jewish Catalogues, by whoever.
I asked him if the last ones, could they give me a good deal on a mail-order bris? But he mostly figured I was kidding.
That is the sum total, so far, of my education. Or, education-to-be, as soon as I can read the Berkovits books. He’s not the sort of man who rested easy in his soul, was he? He certainly doesn’t read like it at any rate. I thought I should give you this list so you know where I am in my education. We should be on the same page and all of that sort of good thing.
Have you anything to add to my list, while I’m at it?
