just before sleep

I could get further upset about the attempts at bombings in Israel, where so many friends live, but tonight I prefer to feel happy that the security forces have been so successful lately. And anyway, it’s too easy to get caught up in all the shouting. Fun, but one hates to realize one may yet again have succumbed to the temptation of mob mentality, regardless of its target.

The room is dark but for the big glow of the Powerbook screen, and the softer glows of the air filters (yup, plural) that my husband has going on account of the cats like to sleep around his face, and he is truly reluctant to wake up every morning of his life with a headache. One of the filters sounds a bit like a box-shaped airplane eternally trying to take off.

I check the weather reports for two cities 10 time zones apart, and can’t decide which one I’d prefer to be in right now. Both are by the ocean, so that’s not a decision-maker. And both are warmer than here.

Good night!
