No, really. I also think the country and its citizens (of whichever ethnic background you care to choose) have very serious flaws.
They have been, but are no longer, a world power. They continue to act like a world power, however, and get pissed when people keep ignoring them when they make pronouncements. See any statement their Foreign Office makes.
But they have made great contributions to culture and science, especially mathematics, again and again and again and again. That’s enough math links and I haven’t even given all of my favorites a link.
Who knows… Maybe, now that they rather have to, they can rise to the occasion and face down the enemy. Then again, maybe they won’t.
