So I get up this morning, and my foot brushes against a small soft thing on the bedroom carpet. Since you know I share the house with 3 cats, you know what’s coming up. Yes, it is a small, dead animal, neatly placed in the center of the rug as gift. In this case, the gift was a little brown bat (both its proper name and an apt description).
But wait, there’s more! Upon letting Sophia Kovalevskaya Dog out onto the porch to enjoy our glorious day, I find a large gray fuzzy thing awaiting us both: a dead raccoon. At first, I thought it was a new dog toy that I didn’t yet know about, it being about the proper size for such a thing. However, bugs were beginning to gather about it, testifying as to its realness.
So here’s my day: bat having been disposed of, I have to figure out what to do with the raccoon, and how to do it. I wonder if we have a shovel…
