Buck @ the Stanley Hotel, Estes Park CO

We spent a lovely day getting to and from Estes Park, our daily adventure. Here we are in the cloudy mountain weather outside, on the porch of the Stanley Hotel.

I didn’t think you all needed to see the outside. If you are a horror movie lover, you’ve already seen it. Stanley Kubrick used it for the outside shots of the remote hotel in The Shining. Stephen King actually stayed in the hotel, and got his inspiration for the book from his stay there. He and his family rented a home here in Boulder while he got the novel started.

So go read your books, like good bloggers.

  1. Is it me, or does Buck look a little eerie?

I like the way he’s backlit, especially in context of “The Shining”

  2. Unfortunately, he looks a bit eerie because that was taken with my iPhone, and the backlighting always makes something look fuzzy with that teeny camera. Peter doesn’t have a copy of the movie, so I’m gonna Netflix it.

  3. Isn’t amazing, that of all the technology they still haven’t figured out how to make a good camera lense on a cell phone….I thought there were a few spirits behind him as well. Nice photos. I found some more inspiring photos of Estes Park at Estes Park Central Photo Gallery. Don’t get haunted…ooooooo
