Why has the public accepted abstract art but not abstract music? (Discordant visual art does not cause visceral pain, discordant music does.)

You have to admit that it’s true. If it’s not Philip Glass or John Cage (most of the time), modern “classical” music just pisses me off. :[

  1. It’s also the case that while it may be possible to avert one’s gaze from something unpleasant, it’s hard to do the same with sound.

    Wish I could close my ears from time to time..
